In January 2025, Union Minister of Coal and Mines, G. Kishan Reddy, represented India at the Future Minerals Forum in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. During the Ministerial Round Table, he emphasized India’s commitment to securing critical minerals essential for expanding clean energy capacities to meet the nation’s renewable energy targets. He invited global investors to explore opportunities within India’s vast mining sector, highlighting the potential for value addition throughout the supply chain as a pathway to greater prosperity.
On the sidelines of the forum, Minister Reddy engaged in discussions with Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar bin Ibrahim Alkhorayef, focusing on enhancing trade and investment relations between the two countries. He also met with ministers from Brazil, Italy, and Morocco to explore avenues for economic and technical cooperation, particularly in the minerals sector.
The Future Minerals Forum 2025, held at the King Abdulaziz International Conference Centre, convened representatives from over 85 countries to address critical challenges in the mineral sector. The event featured exhibitions by partner countries and global companies, including an India pavilion showcasing contributions from the Ministry of Mines, Coal India, the Geological Survey of India, NMDC, NALCO, and MECL.
India’s participation in the forum underscores its strategic focus on securing critical minerals to support its renewable energy ambitions and its openness to international collaboration in the mining sector.
